Transition to school

Pre-School Visits

Throughout the year, we work closely with all our feeder pre-schools in Alton and the surrounding area. However, we especially like to take advantage of visiting our feeder pre-schools in the Summer Term, before your child starts school, to say ‘hello’ to your child and to liaise with the staff to help us to get to know your child.

Greet and Meet Sessions - Getting to know you and your child.

At the beginning of the Autumn Term, we would like to add a personal touch to you and your child’s learning journey with us. Therefore, during the first week of the Autumn Term, there will be an opportunity for you and your child to meet with your child's class teacher. This meeting will give you an individual opportunity to ask questions and to provide us with any important information about your child. We are particularly interested in what your child loves to do as well as anything that they may find more difficult. This important meeting  allows our staff to get to know you and your child and to have a positive start to the year.

Curriculum Meeting.

In early October, we invite parents to school for an information presentation about the teaching, learning and curriculum in Reception. We incorporate information about ‘how and what’ your child is learning at Alton Infant School and how you as parents can continue to support them at home with their learning too.

We are looking forward to working with you and your child to ensure that they achieve the very best that they can and that their time with us is remembered fondly.
